Fords Focus Coupe-Cabriolet details
28 June 2006 • Focus drop-top arrives in
October
• Performance figures given
• Car to be launched at British Motor Show in July
The new Fords Focus Coupe-Cabriolet arrives in UK showrooms this
October.
Originally Ford said the metal-roofed convertible would be here in
the summer, but now says UK buyers won't get to drive away from
showrooms until the autumn.
Vauxhall and
Volkswagen pushed back the arrival of the Astra TwinTop and Eos tin
top convertibles early this year, although both of these models are
now on sale.
Ford has also released a few more details on its car including
information on performance.
The entry-level 99bhp 1.6-litre petrol takes 13.6sec to reach 62mph
from a standstill and has a top speed of 114mph. After official
testing, Ford hopes it will do 39.8mpg.
The 143bhp 2.0-litre
petrol is more than two seconds quicker, with a 0-62mph time of
10.3sec. Top speed is put at 130mph, while Ford is expecting it to
return 37.6mpg.
A 134bhp 2.0-litre diesel will also be available in the drop-top. It
has the same 0-62mph time as the 2.0-litre petrol, but has a
hoped-for fuel consumption figure more than 10mpg better than the
petrol, at 47.9mpg. Top speed is 2mph down on the petrol at 128mph.
The electric roof of the Focus Coupe-Cabriolet takes 29 seconds to
fold away. A maximum luggage space of 534 litres is reduced to 248
litres when the roof is folded.
Prices and final specification levels won't be announced until the
British Motor show in July, where the Focus Coupe-Cabriolet makes
its UK debut. Expect entry-level models to cost from around £18,000.
